Attenuation tank installation

Below-ground attenuation that stores stormwater and releases it at a controlled rate.

Phase 03 · Drainage & utilities

Attenuation tanks hold surface water during heavy rain and release it slowly to the sewer, a watercourse or the ground. They reduce flood risk, protect the drainage network and help developments meet SuDS planning requirements.

Civio assesses water flow, ground conditions and the capacity needed, excavates, installs modular crates or chambers, and connects the tank to the site drainage. Every installation is checked for integrity and capacity before handover.

How we deliver it

One Civio team from first survey to handover.

  1. 01

    Site assessment and design

We assess water flow, ground conditions and capacity to plan a system that meets SuDS and local authority requirements.

  2. 02

    Excavation

The tank area is excavated and the formation prepared to the agreed design.

  3. 03

    Installation and connection

Crates or chambers are installed and connected to the site drainage.

  4. 04

    Checks and handover

The system is checked for integrity and capacity, then backfilled and reinstated.

Common questions

What is an attenuation tank?

A below-ground system, usually modular plastic crates or large chambers, that stores stormwater at peak flow and releases it gradually.

Why do planners ask for attenuation?

To meet SuDS requirements. It limits the rate water leaves the site, so new development does not overload the drainage network.

Can you install the tank within the wider drainage package?

Yes. We install the tank, connect it to the site drainage and reinstate the area as part of the drainage phase.
